At low tide you can walk across the sand bank from Cearn Drive to the Heads. Take a bucket and spade and enjoy looking for treasures and spotting hundreds of hermit crabs. There is also a little rocky outcrop near the NSRI where you can snorkel.

On the other side of the lagoon lies Featherbed Nature Reserve.

Take a boat ride to the island from Featherbed Ferry Terminus on Remembrance Drive off Waterfront Drive.

Take your pick of golf courses with Simola, Pezula and Knysna golf courses all a short drive from Houtunqua House.

This secluded little beach with it's very own castle is a lovely spot for a visit.
